It would be interesting to know if in the case of building automation there is a end point after which the efficiency is considered good enough and the optimization ends. Because otherwise the results might be "interesting". I presume the model of a system needs to be really detailed. For example in the case of the data center i see how the AI can increase efficiency but at the same time cause excesive wear on the system as it looks like the AI can find tricks to squeeze maximum performance. What if the AI discovers it can use some sort of liquid harmonics in the tubing by quickly oscillating a valve to increase efficiency. Then all sorts of material proprieties begin to matter.

And then it reaches the conclusion that a non existent facility has infinite thermal efficiency and burns it to the ground. 🙂

Why hasn't DeepMind merged with Google Brain or the other way round? They seem to overlap a lot.

making a computer playing against a human it's not fair , the conditions that affects one are not the same as the other , they have to compensated for the external distractions and phycological conditions that the human has to face while is playing , like public pressure etc , I'm sure that it will has more tough time generating a move in such a conditions
